Make a drastic difference in just 2 weeks

Hello and welcome to my motivational post on how all things are possible and even on a very short time frame!

If you are in a rut, feeling stuck or lost, I want you to know that not only is it temporary, it can drastically change in as little as 10 days.

Just like you wouldn't hesitate to declutter your home after a long winter, it's the perfect time to give your life a refresh too!

This newsletter is packed with challenges that are designed to show, teach, entertain and motivate.

How to start moving forward

There isn’t a way for me to know your starting point or what you are aiming for, but regardless we can get there with a little planning and a whole lot of gumption.

  1. Day 1: Today is day 1 whether you are ready or not. The most important part of today is defining the goal and determining the steps.

  2. Defining the goal: Only you can decide on what the goal should be, but since it is up to you, it should be clear on what success is. Write down the general idea of what the goal is and what conditions would make it a success.

  3. Determining the steps: To reach the end you have to know what direction to take and one of the best ways to do that is by walking it backwards. Whether you want to break it down by each down or steps that lead towards the completion, it doesn’t matter. What is important is that you know some key milestones that you have to pass along the way to your destination. If you don’t know what those steps are, no worries, today is day 1 and your job is to write it out.

  4. Refer back to day 1: Don’t let what you wrote and defined at the beginning be the last time you look at it. Keep the written goal somewhere you can see it. Just seeing and knowing that you have to take action to reach the goal will motivate you.

  5. It’s only 10 days: The path is short and the goal could be large for all that I know. In fact, it’s better if the goal is larger than you think is possible. Put in as much effort as you want to get out and know that you can always find another opportunity for day 1.

What a 10 day challenge could look like

From zero to hero is a wonderful thing to dream of, but how can it be achieved? Here we can break it down a little bit with a few examples. There are tons of ways to challenge yourself and you shouldn’t be limiting yourself to what I’m mentioning here. I am going to mention health, fitness, finance and social challenges as that’s what I want to focus on. Choose what you want to commit to and shape it for yourself.

Dieting is temporary

Trying a diet is a perfect example of a 10 day challenge. A diet can help show you how something your current situation looks like and how extreme some people take into consideration the fuel that goes into their body.

Happiness is a choice

Happiness is not something that just happens. It is usually something that is created with intention or given. The one great thing about happiness is that there isn’t a limited supply. You can have as much happiness as you want and it doesn’t have to be at the cost of anyone else. One of the easiest examples of this is making others happy. Find a way to make 10 days happy.

Fitness is just extra motion

Doing a fitness challenge is about moving in new ways or more than you did before. We are made to move and if you want to move more, you just have to break down how much more you have to move every day to get to that end goal. Obviously you shouldn’t go from completely sedentary to ultra-marathons, but if that’s your goal, you can get there… just maybe not in 10 days.

Count the pennies

Finance is simple and complex. Simple because it can be broken down into a numbers game. Complex because everyone is playing and wants to win. A challenge that can be applied at any level is counting your pennies. Do you know where every cent you earn goes? Knowing helps you earn more pennies, which in turn makes it harder to keep track of. Take the time to know your money. What is earned, spent, saved ect.

Progress and failure

Anything can happen in just ten days and while of course the goal is for positive change, bad things happen too. Setbacks, injuries, stress and just life in general. I don’t want to encourage the behavior of starting a challenge and quitting halfway through, but attempting is way more impactful to change than merely thinking about it. If things happen, I’d hope that it doesn’t stop you from coming back to day 1.

If you do work at it for all 10 days and don’t reach the end goal. That doesn’t mean it was a failure. Progress is not linear and the timelines are sometimes arbitrary. Use what progress you did make to help define the next challenge. The more you challenge yourself, the better you will be at identifying your ability to make progress and reach your goals. The only true end is when you say it’s the end.

For me, the less I do, the more unhappy I am. Nothing makes me happier than having the world of opportunity knocking at my door. If I am ever feeling stuck or in a rut, I just need to remember it’s my job to go out there and take on the challenge.
